About Paulina
Green Medicine. Naturally Good.
My passion is, simply put, plants. Plants in all of their wonderful forms, shapes, and diversity; and plants in their ability to help us heal, on all levels – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Growing up in a rural setting, my playground was 40 acres of wilderness. Each day, I walked beneath the branches of majestic cedars and towering firs, touched by their timeless wisdom. The natural beauty of my surroundings provided me with the foundation for an abiding love and respect for Nature and the bounty of medicine she holds.
As a clinical herbalist, I combine time-honoured traditional wisdom with a modern understanding of medical science and the chemical composition of plants. My therapeutic approach reflects a synthesis of both western and eastern herbal traditions, the importance of nutrition in good health, dietary supplements, clinical aromatherapy, and energetic medicine including flower essences. I believe in an integrated approach to health care and that herbal medicine and conventional medicine are complementary to one another.
I have been in clinical practice in Vancouver, BC, since 1997. Alongside my work as a practitioner, I provide consulting services to the natural products industry including product development (formulating) and creating marketing and educational materials. I have developed and taught programs in herbal medicine at several colleges and centers, and my articles on natural health and wellbeing have appeared in numerous publications.
My professional career in health care also includes over ten years as a medical laboratory technologist (graduated Magna cum laude). This background provided me with an appreciation of both the benefits, and shortcomings, of modern medicine, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the body and its processes during illness. It also instilled in me a desire to better understand the body’s innate wisdom and profound intelligence to heal, and prompted my return to the ‘green roots’ of my upbringing. During my herbal training, I was privileged to apprentice with several of North America and Europe’s most renowned herbalists and benefit from their collective experience and wisdom. Their insights, as well as generosity in sharing of their knowledge, enriched my understanding and respect for the healing power of plants. Ultimately, it is the plants themselves which are our greatest teachers, and which generously facilitate our healing.
I would be happy to assist you on your journey of health and wellbeing – please feel free to contact me.
Yours in Health,
Paulina
